Maharishi Vedic City was incorporated in 2001 and 2002 as Iowa's newest city in twenty years.  Founded on the principles of Maharishi, the growing city is located just north and west of the city of Fairfield.

The city has tow resort hotels, unique architecture, and an observatory with ancient Indian astronomical instruments.
