1. Do you have a meeting room?
Yes, we do, and you may reserve it for large
groups. If your group generates money in some way, there is a
fee of $10 per hour. Otherwise, it is free. For smaller
groups, the library also has a conference room in the library which is
good for groups no larger than 8 or 10.
2. Does the library have things for children to
do? Storytimes or anything?
There is a Toddler Story Time, Starry Story Time, and
of course the Summer Reading Program which goes on during summer.
In addition, the library frequently has special programs for children.
Recently the Children's Room hosted a "Snow Camp" in which
children actually spent the night in the library with their parents
and were treated to a myriad of stories and activities; there also was
a Valentine's Day Tea for young girls, as well as an ongoing Pokeman
card swap once a week. Keep an eye for articles in the Ledger
for activities, or call the Children's Librarian for more information.
3. Is there anyone there who can help me look up
something in a book?
Yes. Talk to Jim Rubis or one of the clerks at the front desk
for help. Our Reference Librarian position has been cut due to
city budget cuts.
4. I'm interested in the magazine Fine
Woodworking. Does the library carry that title?
Yes, along with 225 other subscriptions for magazines
as well. Most magazines are able to be checked out. The
most current copies circulate for 2 days, with the exception of a few
such as Time, People, Newsweek, and Forbes which stays in the library
until the next issue arrives. Older magazines may be checked out
for two weeks. There is quite a wide variety of titles
available. There is a Magazine Section in the southeast corner
of the building where you can browse and choose your favorites to take
home.
